Mum's Birthday

My Mum is staying with us at the moment. It's her Birthday on Monday and normally the kids are on half term so we go over to see her on the day. This year, however, the kids have been off this week and go back to school on Monday so we asked Mum if she'd like to come over and spend the weekend with us instead and we're going to have a party for her here tomorrow.

I don't do baking with the children very often but Ellie got a cook book for Christmas and so I thought I really should make the effort to make something out of it with her. We found a recipe for Chocolate Crispies in it and so I thought it might be a good opportunity to make some for the party. Ellie took some persuading to make them to start off with but once she got started she really enjoyed herself and had great fun.

And she had even more fun licking out the bowl afterwards!!!

We certainly had a good few days lead up to my birthday and a great day Sunday when we had the family party. My son, Richard and his family and my sister and David joined us. We had a buffet lunch with Ellie's chocolate crispies and then a good old laugh at various antics we've all been up to. It's good to get together but it's back to reality now!
