Scraplift Challenge

This is a layout I made for a scraplift challenge over on the new PCJ blog. Jayne designed the sketch for it and this was my take on it. The photos are of our little rug/puppy otherwise known as Max, when he still had his fur!! It is now growing back after his trim but he did look very bad for a time there. Poor puppy.

Good news. I rang the shop where I got Ellie's leotard and skirt from and they said as it was their mistake they would change them even though she'd worn them. So she now has the correct uniform, hurray! I didn't buy any tap shoes though as they were a little off with me in the shop so I didn't think they deserved any more custom. I will get some from somewhere else after I have had my first class (well my first since I was about 14) which is tonight at 8.15pm. I will have to do it in my trainers this week but if I enjoy it then I think I will order some tap shoes online and hope they come before the next class.

Raspberry Ribbons Sketch Three

My mum and I had a fabulous time at the Harrogate Craft Fair yesterday and, yes, I finally am the proud owner of a CUTTLEBUG!!!!!!! and lots of dies for it too! I got a cracking deal on it and I have already had a little play with it this morning. I've made a snowflake and a scalloped circle frame. Too cool!

Anyway back to Raspberry Ribbons! I did two pieces of work for this. I made the card first and then Jayne set a "Back to School" layout challenge on PCJ's so I thought I'd use the Raspberry ribbons sketch for that too. I sent them both to Caroline and said to use which ever she liked best and she's gone with the card so that's ok. The card is made using papers, ribbons and button from Hot Off The Press. The lettering was done on my Cricut using the Tear Drop Cartridge and the stamp is by Judikins.

For the layout I used paper and ribbons by Blonde Moments. Prima Flowers. A Fiskars Threading Water Punch and the wording was done on my Cricut using the ZooBalloo Cartridge.

Raspberry Ribbons DT Call

I've decided to try out for the Design Team for Raspberry Ribbons as the other DT I'm a member of is a bit slow at the moment and doesn't seem to be showing any signs of picking up again any time soon. I really need something to keep me crafting on a regular basis as I've been very slack recently with no DT challenges to work on and to be honest I really miss them.

A friend of mine, who knew I was looking let me know about this one and this is what they asked for:

All we need for you to do is create a card using the sketch on post below and tell us on the comments where it is for us to look at. There is only one thing we ask and that is to use ribbon on your creation whether it's a card or Layout.

I decided I would do a layout as I really wanted to make a ribbon flower and knew that it would be too big to use on a card. So I used these great papers by Blonde Moments. Unfortunately when I shrunk the first photo, to make it the right size for a web page, it made the photo of Max go very dark so you can't see him very well.

So I just took the photo again but a bit lighter and now you can see Max but the colours of the paper are a bit light. So if you can imagine the real thing is somewhere in between the two.

See I should have done a card as they are much easier to photograph you don't have to worry about the light bouncing back off the photograph! Doh!

Two Christmas Cards and a Layout

This Christmas card is made with free papers from a craft magazine and my Whipper Snapper Snowman Stamp. This Christmas card is also made with free papers and "Winter Nellie" and "Luka with Pom Pom Hat" stamps by Sugar Nellie.
This is a scrapbook page I've done for a Scraplift Challenge on an american forum using a layout by Niki. The idea is to scraplift the bits of her layout that you like and use them to create your own interpretation of it. The elements I liked were the chipboard title, the three photos and the border across the bottom.

Sorry!

Sorry I haven't been around for ages. I've been feeling sorry for myself for the past week but I think I'm over it now!!

It started because I'd spent ages making Valentine's Day and Mother's Day cards to take up to the Flower Shop that sell my cards only when I got up there they decided to tell me that my cards were all out the back as they'd decided not to sell them any more.

I think what upset me the most was that they had my phone number and didn't even have to curtesy to phone me and let me know before I made a lot of specific cards for them that I'm not going to be able to use myself. It was obvious they'd been out the back for quite some time and it wasn't a decision they'd made recently so why couldn't they have let me know? In a way it's my own fault as I've not been up for ages but with the run up to Christmas and everything I just haven't had time.

I was really down about it all last week and I lost my creative mojo for a while so I've decided to cut back on card making and just make cards for my family and friends and any commisioned cards I get asked to do and instead I'm going to concentrate my efforts on scrapbooking our family photos and doing ATC swaps instead.

So I thought as I'd shared a photo of Ellie doing art with me in the kitchen I'd share this photo of Josh helping me in the garden last week. I was taking out my frustrations on the weeds when Josh poked his head out of the door and said he was missing me. I suggested he put his shoes on and come to play outside and keep me company and I nearly fainted when 2 minutes later he did just that, but he didn't want to play he wanted to help! So I dug and raked the weeds and leaves into a pile and then he put the pile in the wheelbarrow and when it was full he wheeled it the the green bin and threw it all in. We had great fun and it was lovely to spend so much time together. Isn't he a sweetie!

This is the first of many layouts I'm going to be doing. It was actually for a challenge on an American forum. The challenge was to use the title of a love song as the theme for your layout. I chose "Love to Love You Baby"

The papers I've used for this are by Blonde Moments and I've highlighted parts of them with chalks. The letters are done on my Cricut using the Jasmine cartridge and Bazzil Bling card stock. The flowers are a mixture of punched and Prima with a little bling added to the centre of each. The photo is of Josh holding his little sister when she was just a few days old.
