Quirky Crafts Challenge 21

We have a new Quirky Crafts Challenge for you only this time it's not on the forum. It's on our brand new challenge blog which you can find here!

This fortnights challenge has been set by the beautiful, talented and incredibly creative... little old me! Tee hee!

The challenge I have set is Valentine's/Foreign. You can find more details here.

For my DT examples of the challenge I have made a Valentine's Card. I like to keep it quite simple for my hubby as he doesn't do cute or fussy. I did have to use the Cherub stamp on it though as my 6 year old daughter gave it to me as a Birthday present in December and she'd be mortified if I didn't!

The heart stamp is by Crafty Individuals which I stamped onto white card and the cut round. The Cherub/Cupid is by Hobbycraft and the swirl stamp is a Rhonna Farrer, she does some beautiful swirl stamps! We are sponsored this month by The Cutting Cafe who provided us with some Valentine's downloads to use on our projects. The Valentine's sentiment is one of those downloads which I printed onto while card and then mounted onto black. The small heart is a paper punch. To finish I coloured in some of the swirly bits with a red Marvy Le Plume pen.

I also thought I'd make a Valentine's ATC which has the sentiment "Je t adore" which makes it qualify for the Valentine's and the Foreign part of my challenge.

The heart stamp is by Crafty individuals again and is a larger version of the one I used on my card. The lady and the sentiment are from a set by Limited Edition. I did paper piecing on the ladies dress so that the colour would match the backing.

If that has whetted your appetite and you'd like to join us for this fortnights Quirky Crafts Blog Challenge you can find all the details here.

I hope to see you there!

Valentine's Card

This is the Valentine's card I made for my Peejy Peej. He likes simple, elegant cards which is why I made this one but after visiting my blog on Friday he told me he liked the "go to my room" one and asked why he wasn't getting that one! Lol! I used the Birds and Swirl Cuttlebug embossing folder for this card and printed out the sentiment on the computer. The two hearts were made using a stamp that came free with a magazine. I stamped both of them onto red card using Versamark Ink and then embossed one with clear embossing powder and the other with white opaque. The idea was to see which one looked better and use that one on the card but when I put them both on the card to compare, I liked the look of them both together.
The photo doesn't really do the card justice. It looks a lot better in real life!

This is the inside of the card. Stamp: Heart that came free with craft magazine
Paper and Embellishments: K&Co
Equipment: Cuttlebug ~ Embossing Folder ~ Heart Punch

Charisma Cardz Pink Challenge

There's a new challenge blog started up a couple of days ago called Charisma Cardz Challenges. My friend Leanne is one of the DT members there. I thought I'd show my support and do the first challenge which is "Pink"

I made this card using the free papers that came with this months Simply Cards and Papercrafts Magazine. I'm going to send it in to them along with a couple of others I've made using their Valentines papers. I wonder if they'll make it into the mag?? Stamp: Sugar Nellie
Coloured with: Twinkling H2Os
Papers: Freebies from craft magazine
Embellishments: Ribbon ~ Blonde Moments

Guest Designer - Ellie (aged 4)

I know you were all wondering what had happened to Ellie's card when I posted about the two of us colouring in the Sugar Nellie's together the other weekend. Well the answer is we hadn't actually got around to turning hers into cards, she'd only done the painting part. So we decided to finish it off after breakfast this morning.
Ellie had a card blank with hearts printed on it in one of her card kits that she got for Christmas, she stuck the hearts and flowers paper in the middle with her "Bedtime Maggie" Sugar Nellie stamp on top of that. Then she coloured in all the hearts with pink felt tip. She decided it was going to be a Valentine's Day card for daddy so she wrote "I love you daddy" "love Ellie" in it. However she couldn't wait until Valentine's Day to give it to him so she gave it to him when he got up instead! :-)
